Hello Sprockets! Can I start by confessing that I just learned what that meant? I know, it’s so sad. You may be thinking “if she didn’t even know what a sprocket was then why is she joining a HubSpot User Group?” Well, I’ll be helping out with the HUG events over the next couple months. Since you may be seeing my name around, I thought it would be best to tell you a little bit about myself.
From the east coast to the midwest. From push to pull.
Although I was born and raised in Philadelphia, I currently live in the metro Detroit area. While I do miss cheesesteaks and Rita’s, I’ve also grown to love coneys, greek food, Vernor’s and Better Made. But I cannot get myself to say “pop” instead of “soda” or “tennis shoes” instead of “sneakers.” Sorry!
A marketing career at General Motors moved me to the 313 but what brought me to the HUG is my current studies. I’m a MBA student at Wayne State University with a concentration in Inbound Marketing. While I have years in automotive marketing, all of this is very new to me. Most of my experience was in traditional advertising forcing our messages onto consumers. I always questioned why that seemed to be the best way to reach people. I for one, don’t like being spoken at. I rather be engaged. That lead me to starting my MBA in marketing strategy.
HubSpot love was born.
HubSpot exposure took place in January of 2016 through a Digital Content creation course at WSU. I had never heard of HubSpot prior to that class. But I instantly feel in love with the tool. It was so easy and just made sense! I wanted to learn more so I switched my concentration to inbound marketing and I’m diving in. I’ll be working on a number of HubSpot certifications over the next few months. What better way to amplify those learnings but to be a part of the user groups?
